Yesterday I made the easiest $100 ever!!
Here’s the story…
I drove in to work in the morning and parked my car in the employee parking lot (yes! I now get my very own parking permit so that I don’t have to go move my car every 2 hours). Then, I went into work and was deeply engrossed in my teaching when one of my coworkers burst in and pulled me away from my pole trick teaching to tell me that my car had been hit in the parking lot but that Carlos (the parking lot supervisor) had seen it and knows whose car it was. Well, I wasn’t upset at all and, honestly, I was hoping it would be a big, car totaling, crash so that I might be able to have an excuse for a new car. But, no. If nobody had said anything, I never would have noticed the 3 inch, white scratch added at the end of an existing scratch. But, since I’ve had bad car kharma over the last 2 years, I decided to change my luck. Carlos, bless him, advised me to ask for $100 to call it even…
Carlos took me to meet the guy (he drives a stick, like me, and forgot to pull his emergency brake, which caused his car to roll and hit mine ~ duh!). Richie works in the office next to S Factor. He was very chill and said he’d go to the ATM and give me the $100 in cash. Woo hoo!
So, a hundred dollars richer and with another little scratch added to my aging station wagon, I’m going to take myself to the movies today and then use the rest to pay off some of my credit card.
I guess it literally pays to be nice to the parking lot attendants…Thank you, Carlos!
