the right area rug is hard to find

I’ve been living in my new place for almost 6 months now. (Wow, could that be possible?) And I cannot find an area rug that I… 1) Like and 2) Works with my decor

I’ve been searching and searching for awhile and I actually found the perfect rug. The problem was that it could only be mine for the low, low price of $5600. Ha Ha Ha. Right. Very funny.

Let’s take a vote… Do either of the above rugs work? If so, which one do you prefer? If not, it is truly ok to tell me that these are awful and I’ve lost my mind.

I will add more not-so-neutral colored pillows once I find a rug. You know, to tie it all together.

Help, oh stylish ones!

  1. I love BOTH of them. I love YOU. I love your STYLE. And, I feel like tons of things are going on in your life right now and I need to CALL you and get the schcoop!

The chocolate and mint (if my computer screen is accurate) is great would bring a little darker connection into your other 2 dark pillow and tie in nicely. But I also love the orange and peachy tones. I am a big oriental rug lover and think that you can find an oriental rug (or knock off) that will tie in many colors.

  2. ELRB ~ We do need to catch up! I miss you so…
I think you do need to adjust your screen. The first rug is cream and dark raspberry colored and the second one is whiter cream with rust. Haha! Maybe if I posted them larger, the colors would be clearer. Hmmm…

  3. Ha! That’s funny. Plus, I thought they were more pillow options. As rugs… I think I like the raspberry one! I’m always up for any shade of pink 🙂

  4. poppies! 1. it looks like a klimt painting. 2. the bigger pattern looks less cluttered next to the books. 3. go bold or go home. 🙂

  5. “it looks like a klimt painting.”

Oh my gosh! I have 2 Klimt paintings framed right around the wall in the entryway. I see that in this rug, too.

    Oh yay!

  6. Hmm…

Well. Personally I wouldn’t pick either. They look more like pillow options to my eye than rug choices.

That said, I like things a bit heavy, and want the floor to stay on the floor, and you have proven (time and again) to know something I don’t know about lightness, and design, color and texture.

So while I think the answer is neither… standing in your house, delighted with your choices, I feel quite sure that either one of the m would be just right.

I know that doesn’t help at all. But It’s been far too long since your brother commented on your blog.

  7. I think I found the rug! And I love it. I will try to get a picture of it this week.
I will have to save a little moolah before I can order it, but I love it.
It matches what I was imagining in my head and I can’t wait!
(And it is neither of these…)
