In keeping with my new practice, I branched out to a new yoga studio last night and fell in love with the space, the teacher and the re-introduction to basic Hatha yoga. This studio, unlike my other one, has many different styles of class offerings, so I have decided to add this studio to my rotation. I drive by this studio on my way to and from work, so the location is rather wonderful. I also really like the name: Liberation Yoga. It fits in with my ultimate goal in starting a yoga practice for so many reasons.
Because I am excited about my goal (as I tend to be early on in the process), I decided to go to another class there this morning to try another teacher while continuing with my love of Anusara. I was so proud that I actually woke up easily, packed a lunch (whoa!), got myself showered and dressed, gathered a change of clothes and was out the door with time to make it to the 7am class.
But life played a little joke on me.
I arrived to find the door locked and another women sitting outside. We were both a little confused, but decided that it was just now 7am and so perhaps the teacher was running a little late. We talked about yoga a little and I found out that she has moved to LA from Oregon and went to Lewis and Clark. This is significant because in case you didn’t know, I also went to college in Oregon, just about and hour South of Portland. I actually hope that I will see her again in class sometime. At 7:15 and because there were no other students, we decided to let it go and leave.
Upon return to my car for my cell phone, I called the studio to find that the recording did say that the 7am class had been canceled this week.
I went back home and made some green tea (another ritual I am trying to begin) and sat down on my couch to do a little writing. Pretty soon, Marceau, curled up next to my leg. The combination of his warmth and gentle rumble of his purring was the perfect replacement for yoga. And there’ll be another class tomorrow…
No way! I also recently decided that Yoga and Pilates is the key to my happiness. I used to do them a couple years ago, but then kind of lost track of it all. I am only 1 yoga class, and 1 pilates class back into the groove, but it has given added meaning to my stressed out world lately and I’m hooked š Maybe we can compare moves in SEATTLE in a couple weeks! Yahoo!!!
Yes, me too:
