From my bicycle, as I rode along the beach this afternoon, I saw…
Runners and bicycle riders, rollerbladers and dog walkers. Elderly people contentedly sitting on park benches. Men without shirts and women in bikinis playing volleyball. A father and his young son on a bicycle built for two.
A seagull convention.
Three little boys wrestling each other into the sand. Happy couples out for a stroll. A woman leaning on a tree, reading a book. Pregnant women gazing out toward the sea.
Not a cloud in the sky.
Just another lazy Santa Monica Saturday—in December…!!
As I skied down the slopes at Alta today, I saw…
…Wind whisps whipping and swirling the snow along the crest of the peaks.
…Dad’s in the parking lot getting their kid’s hats and gloves on snuggly.
…Rabbit footsteps through the trees– a hint of what goes on when the lifts shut down.
…A mom on a rope tow with her kid between her legs.
… A bra hanging from a frosted tree next to the lift.
… Huge fractured slopes where avalanches have already slid…
…My husband jump off a cliff into snow… and land it.
…A view of one of our favorite runs from me suddenly upside down in a tree.
Just another miserable day skiing the Utah white and fluffy– all winter long.
Yay! That sounds just as lovely…
Both are nice.
