jack: forty-five weeks old

Here is Jack at 45 weeks old…
(December 6, 2012)

45 weeks old!

This was a week we didn’t take many photos. And we sure didn’t get the formal photo done. But, I think this photo of Jack in his Grandpa Larry’s cowboy hat more than makes up for it.

I did take some cute photos of Jack one morning in what we like to call his big boy pajamas. These were hand-me-downs from Jack’s big-boy friend Johnny in Montana. I call this photo “Mr. Hilarious”…

mr. hilarious

Jack gets more and more fun and more and more active every day. He continues to be a huge fan of taking random objects out of containers…

That may be the only time you see him with a pacifier in his mouth these days. He hasn’t taken one since before he could sit up, but they are very good items for the random container unloading game.

Jack is cruising furniture with more confidence and making many more attempts to mimic our words. The only one we are certain he knows is Book. But it comes out Duutk. We love it. I love watching him begin to identify things easily. My favorite thing is to say “Jack, where’s the monkey/dog/train/car/book/etc?” and have him point or grab it. Then he gets really proud. It’s very cute.

Jack still loves the outdoors the best! Especially on walks with his Dad…

going on a walk

See him pointing, like, Come on, Dad, let’s goooooo! And now for a 2006 hip-hop song reference: Look at me I’m ridin’ Daddy! Yes, we sing that to him.

our house: the nursery

Some readers of this blog have asked for photos of our house. I finally feel like a couple of the rooms are put together enough to share. Jack’s room is the most finished, so here is my big nursery reveal! Some moms do it before the baby arrives, other moms do it ten months after. Heh.

Here is one side of his room, showing the crib, storage trunk and hanging shelf…

Here is the other side of the room, showing the changing table, rocking chair, storage items & wall art…

And finally, the window, the curtain for which isn’t completely finished yet…

The curtains are sewn from the fabrics I’ve used from Jack’s weekly photos.

The only thing left to do in this room is hem and line the curtains and paint the walls a nice shade of blue.

I didn’t set out to design a red, yellow and blue room, but the things just started to come together that way and I am happy with how it turned out!

Here is Jack at 44 weeks old…
(November 29, 2012)

44 weeks old!

We had the sickies this week. Stomach bugs all around followed by colds. Boo.

Despite feeling lousy, Jack was active! As usual, getting him to sit still during his photo shoot was a lesson in bribery. I coaxed him back to the fabric several times with his lovey. Meet Blue Doggie…

favorite lovey

It is so funny and sweet when Jack is united with his doggie – his face lights up, he reaches out with a happy squeal and plunges him into his mouth for a kiss. It has become such a great soothing tool!

Jack’s new favorite thing this is his love of taking everything out of a container. He is careful to inspect every item. This keeps him busy for awhile, which is very nice sometimes.

Here he is discovering and inspecting everything in his toiletries basket…

These last two photos from this week make me happy…

sweet giggles

Not too many things to share this week since we were all so low energy.

thanksgiving!

We spent Thanksgiving day at R’s family’s house. Everyone was there. Parents (mine, also!), aunts & uncles, cousins & second cousins, nieces & nephews – it was a big party!

Since R and two of his cousins have infant sons, we took advantage of the photo op…

Jack, Joaquin & James. The three Js! Aren’t they cute?

the three Js: second cousins

As you can see, we dressed Jack up in his Thanksgiving best. Very preppy and East Coast-like!

The other Jack, my dad, proudly wore a very cute apron for carving the turkey. Very frilly and Martha Stewart-like…

There were so many adorable baby boys who provided kissable cheeks and happy grandparents…

Later in the evening, Jack played with his two best friends.

Lebron, the pug, who made Jack giggle…

And his cousin, Jameson, who enjoyed teaching Jack to play ball…

This one cracks me up. Jack looks like he’s screaming at Jameson agressively…

gimme that ball

In reality he was squealing with delight!

Seriously, look how enamored these two are with one another…

I’m so grateful to have so many fabulous family members nearby.

mexico in review

As I already mentioned, we went to Puerto Vallarta with my family and had a great time!

We spent most of our time playing on the beach and in the pool with Jack…

One day we rode the bus into downtown Puerto Vallarta. Here is the whole group, including my parents, one of my brothers and his fiance and my aunt…

And here are we three…

Finally, on the last night, as per tradition, we went to Fajita Republic. Yum! After some margaritas, commence the annual silly face contest…

The silliness wore Jack out and he passed out in his highchair. Isn’t R a good multi-tasker?

Most nights we ended up playing cards into the wee hours of the morning…

Sadly, RJ and I did not get out together by ourselves, but we did manage to get a couple of photos of just us…
