18 days to go…

i know, i’ve left you hanging in the wedding planning updates. i have been extremely busy with work since january, so my wedding planning has been happening, but there has been very little extra time to write about it here. here i go now…

all these images are little hints, but not the “real thing”…

inspiration board

i have remained quite calm over the past several months, even receiving several comments to the effect of “you don’t seem like a bride so close to her wedding. you’re so calm”. yes, i was ~ until this past weekend…

i had two (two!) make-up trials, with two (two!) different make-up artists and neither of them got me at all. my eyes were lined dark in black eyeliner and one gal even tried to put what i would call glam-rock fake eyelashes on me that seemed a mile long. i mean, seriously, does this even look like me? i think i look like i’m a man in drag, but you decide…

bad worse

not really for me, a gal who hardly ever wears any make-up at all. and i told her “natural”. yikes.

then i arrived home to my guy trying on his tux (so handsome!) and he said “whoa! babe – that’s a lot of eye make-up”. that is not exactly the response one hopes for from their groom on wedding day. meltdown begins…

*but* i am back on track now because my dear friend liz came to the rescue offering her local wedding hair and make-up salon.

18 days, sanity back in check. yippee and thank you, mrs. robertson, because, call me crazy, but i’d like to look pretty on my wedding day.

raw kale salad: try this now!

i know…kale. it’s like, what!? what’s kale and how do i eat it? isn’t it bitter? don’t you have to boil it?

no!

i learned this simple raw kale salad recipe and love it so much i am sharing it with you. easy, cheap, fast, healthy.

for 1 or 2 people, here’s what you’ll need…

2-4 stalks of fresh, washed kale
1/2 of a ripe avocado
the juice from 1/2 a lemon
cayenne pepper
salt
raw agave syrup (if you like)

begin by pulling the leafy sections of the kale off the stalks and placing them in a mixing bowl (the leafy parts, not the stalks). scoop the 1/2 avocado and squeeze the 1/2 lemon into the bowl. sprinkle a dash of cayenne pepper and a bit of salt and then mix it up with your hands, squishing the ingredients together. this can be such a fun, sensual experience as the textures and smells mix together. taste the salad and if it’s too “spicy” with cayenne, you can squeeze a bit of agave syrup to taste and hand toss again…

seriously, people. this is good!
enjoy.

sneak peak

my bachelorette party weekend was fantastic! my girlfriends took such great care of me and i got to dance, dance, dance! we stayed in a beach house in san diego, where it rained for a lot of the time, but there were pockets of sunshine in which i ran outside to play in the sand and water. here is the cheesiest thing i did all weekend…

one pen, many invitations

i read in an article about addressing wedding invitations that i would need about three pens. luckily i have my favorite pen that takes re-fills, so i didn’t have to buy any special pen, but i was ready with extra inks.

well, the wedding invitations are all addressed, sealed, stamped and ready for the post office…and it only took me one pen that isn’t even running out. yay me!

here’s our wedding invitation box…

addressed, sealed, stamped

(no sneak peak of the invitation, sorry, you’ll just have to wait).

and did i mention it is now 67 days until our wedding?
whoa-whoa-whoa. i swear the time is speeding up just to annoy me. (smile)
