beyond behind

I just realized it’s been a month since I’ve made a peep on this here blog. Oops. I am a delinquent blogger and I don’t mind!

So much has been going on. Let me list…

1) I began yoga teacher training 5 weeks ago. (see? i said it had been awhile)
dd training has been going well. it is wonderfully challenging, humbling and engaging. i am learning the major bones and muscles of the body and memorizing the Sanskrit names of the poses such as Adho Mukha Svanasana = Downward Facing Dog. i am also learning so much beyond the physical side of yoga. i am now very interested in chakras, which is the energy anatomy of our bodies. i can’t wait to start some teaching, which i can see will be a growth process that will take lots of practice…

2) Wedding planning is going well.
rings we found our band! we’ve got our flower decor sorted out. i am narrowing in on bridesmaid dresses. our honeymoon destination is still up in the air, but i am looking forward to our food tasting next week!

3) I went to NYC.
taxinycrj and i went to NYC the weekend before Halloween and had a fantastic time. we actually enjoyed the rain that everybody kept apologizing for. we also saw Avenue Q off broadway and loved it madly. it was the best fun i’ve had at the theatre in a long time. i then stayed for a couple of extra days to work at the studio there. i even got to stay in brooklyn with Lindsey for one night! i have yet to post my photos, but they are coming soon.

4) I am now in Chicago.
plane i am in Chicago, enjoying the beautiful, crisp, Fall weather. i will be working here for 2 more days before i fly to Houston for less than 24 hours. i must be home by Thursday night so i can be back in yoga training on Friday. it’s a whirlwind. whew!

5) Work is hard.
helpi am really working to grow, learn and breathe through a lot of the tumult going on at work. why is it always something? i love teaching and training, but i don’t want to be in charge anymore. i’d really like to find the courage to move on from management, but then what? there’s this thing called a mortgage…

6) I am so excited for Thanksgiving.
thanksgivingi get to visit my parents for 4 whole days! i am excited because i know they will l feed me well, let me rest and play board games with me. yum mashed potatoes and gravy, yum stuffing, yum pumpkin pie. hooray for giving thanks. hip hip hooray for Fall holidays!

photos soon!

10 year WU

A couple of weekends ago I went to Oregon for my 10 year college reunion. It was a blast and I was reminded why I loved college so much…I had kick-ass friends!

There were *many* photos taken by all of us. Here are the highlights from mine:

Erica and I arrived into Portland on Friday, where she immediately had to make an important Doctor phone call. I admit I loved hearing her talk to her nurse and her patient. It made me proud of her.

Kirsten & Emily picked us up and we went to Kirsten’s beautiful, new house, where Lindsey was waiting to greet us. We caught up a little over cheese and crackers and then got ready for the first night of the reunion…

After a long drive to Salem (when did Oregon traffic start to mimic LA?), we arrive at Willamette University, which is just as beautiful as I remember it. First stop? Chicken Fountain! (Too bad in my photo you can’t see why it’s called The Chicken Fountain.

Next stop, mailboxes. Mine was somewhere in this vicinity…

my mailbox was right here somewhere

We then spent the next few hours at the reception catching up with lots of people, which was fun, but my favorite time of the night was spent in the bathroom with Lindsey. That sounds really odd, but check out the photos. We thought we were hilarious…

Obviously I had bad aim with my camera…

oops, missed again. blurry (on purpose?) oops, missed. bathroom art

We seriously turned into giggle queens between photos.

After the reception we went to an old haunt: Magoo’s!

Here are Lindsey & Emily right in front…

magoos. enough said.

We soon moved down the street since Magoo’s wouldn’t accept Josh’s peeling license. Look how cute my friends are…so at home in the Salem bar ~ just like townies.

out in salem, like townies.

The next morning we visited our old sorority for brunch. They were so sweet and gave a us a lovely tour of the house during which we reminisced about all the “cool” things we used to do that are no longer happening, like Arrowspike and the Teeter Totter Marathon. Ah college ~ the things we did for charity. I’m not sure if we sounded really cool, or really…uncool. But it was fun to see what decor was still the same and what had changed (for the better)!

Look at the sign they made to welcome us. We made so many big signs and banners during our years (well, not me , probably, but maybe Liz and Kirsten)…

We enjoyed a yummy brunch and took photos in the exact spot where so many college photos had been taken by Dan the Man. (Was that his name or did I make that up?)

Spring Pledge class of 2006…

we ate right here!

We look exactly the same (plus 10 years)!

us. ten years later.

We then wandered around campus and enjoyed the Quad social. We also DOMINATED the free photo booth. We certainly laughed a lot and determined that we are crazy about getting our pictures taken. I mean we *loved* it! Here is my favorite one, stolen from Erica…

fun in a photo booth!

And here we are after we purchased Bearcat mementos from the university bookstore…

Here I am with Lindsey, Liz & Emily…

And here are Lindsey, Liz, Emily & Erica, with a fun interjection by Rhiannon & Jeff…

And as if that wasn’t enough fun for one day, we also had a baby shower for Kirsten!

Here, Carrie reads her wishes for Baby Girl Wyatt (aka: Abigail, called Abby????).

For dinner that evening we went to our favorite spot from yesteryear, The Ram, where I enjoyed a delicious micro brew called Barefoot Wit. Only in the Pacific Northwest. Yum, yum, yum. Seriously. The Ram is where I learned to enjoy a good beer…

micro brews like nowhere else

On Monday, Haven, Carrie, Liz, Rosie, Erica and I stayed at the McMenamin’s Edgefield hotel near Portland. I did not, however, take any photos of this fun time.

All in all it was a fantastic trip, where I finally saw Mt. Hood! Erica pointed it out to me. It’s so weird that I’d never seen it before ~ *wink* (don’t believe me, it’s a joke).

Thank you to my dear friends for a fun-filled weekend. I love you. Let’s do it again soon!!!!

not much & a lot

There haven’t been any new developments on the wedding planning front, except for imagining things. We got two big things done (location & dress) and then everything else has come along very slowly…

What’s been keeping us busy is operation: co-habitation.

So far, it’s been good, although we are still surrounded in boxes and things we’re yard selling. I have lived alone for 7 years now and it was definitely an adjustment to have a guy move in. Things just feel different, smell different and look different (not bad, just different), but I am *so* happy to have him. Speaking of adjustments, R was a trooper and sold a lot of his furniture and we still have a lot of arranging to do to change it from “my place” to “our place”…

In other news, I begin yoga teacher training in two weeks! Hooray! I’ve been planning and waiting to do this for almost a year, so I can’t wait. I hope that by the time I finish in November I will be able to do Tittibhasana, or Firefly Pose. And because blogs are better with picture, here’s what it looks like:

Tomorrow morning, at 6am, I will be filming on “The Ghost Whisperer”. I’ll give you one guess what I will be doing on the show. Give up?

Yes, pole dancing. Very classy, though: it’s prime time people. So, that should be fun. I’ll be filming with 4 of my fellow teachers and I do plan to take photos. “Love”, as she’s called, has been taking classes with us and she’s so excited by it that they wrote in an episode about it. Cool eh?

And then, on Friday…REUNION! I get to fly to Oregon for my college reunion. Ten years here I come!

Hopefully, I will take photos so my blogging doesn’t get so stale that y’all stop visiting.

Now it’s time for bed ~ with a 6am make-up call I’d better get my beauty sleep…
