mixing up some lemon-aid

I have stayed up until 2am attempting to put the last four years into high impact vocabulary (who knew I did all that?), breathing deeply, choking down tears, allowing for determination to keep my fingers typing and watching Marceau get confused by my erratic emotional behavior.

If you know what’s going on, then you’re on the same wave length as me. If you don’t, then I’ve been successful at being cryptic in my reporting.

I might be a little quiet for awhile, but I will do my best to continue posting things that make me laugh or wince at the current state of affairs…

i think i can

The economic crisis just hit my Main St.
This afternoon, the nightmares that I have been having for the past several weeks during my fitful nights of sleep, came true. I knew it. I could feel it in the air and I could see it in people’s eyes.

I have been asked to “cut down hours” at my job to 2 days per week. {Which we all know results in a salary decrease also}

We’d like you to do your five-day job in 2, and we’d like to pay you less money, is that ok?

Lovely.

But I tried to be smart and I didn’t take their offer…instead I asked to think about it over the weekend, which conveniently for them, I will spend working in Houston. I am now calculating everything, crunching numbers and planning a counter-offer while trying to remain calm and bitter-free. It’s hard.

I’d really like to drive over to her house with crazy in my eyes and give her a piece of my mind. But then I remember that I have to keep working for her. Her involvement in the way in which this was presented to me today made me feel really icky – I wish I had a more eloquent word for it, but nothing else fits.

I am now burrowing down to find a way to use this as an opportunity…I think I can!

mold.

I rearranged my one bedroom home into a studio…
home. rearranged.
Why? Because the ceiling in my bedroom had mold.

mold: noun: a growth of minute fungi forming on vegetable or animal matter, commonly as a downy or furry coating, and associated with decay or dampness.

If you remember, on Labor Day, the ceiling in my bedroom poured water across the room and down into my closet below. Ever since I have been battling with the evil HOA property management woman to handle this issue properly. She did not. So I called my insurance, which is something I really should have done right away, and they are being so thorough and wonderful. They sent out some water damage restoration experts who determined the ceiling was still wet. They left a big, noisy dehumidifier in my room and took a ceiling sample. The next day they called and said that the test came back negative (hurrah!) and they would return to pull out the bad ceiling and replace it with new. Unfortunately, when they returned and opened up the ceiling, they found mold (boo!). So all my bedroom furniture was moved out into the living room, my closets were taped shut and the bedroom door was sealed. Yes, with my clothing still hanging in the closet ~ I was at work. (Luckily my laundry hamper was removed from the room, so I did laundry and now all my workout clothes are clean for the week ahead and two pairs of flip flops were outside the bedroom. Could be much worse.)

I am now actually living in my living room. This has caused a little stress and anxiety that I am trying hard to ignore and Marceau is terribly confused.

Meanwhile, I’ve decided to give myself the gift of this yoga retreat in December! I think that having something to look forward to is just what I need. Something just for me.

why i’m quiet

1) I lost my ID and credit card last Thursday night.
2) It was a very full weekend. Pictures to come.
3) There was a terrible ceiling leak in my bedroom from the upstairs unit’s bathroom. Needless to say, it is a mess and a pain in the A%$.

Reports on all of these things coming soon…

Thank goodness it’s a short week!
