my annual 29th

Over Memorial Day weekend I celebrated my annual 29th birthday! {wink}

It was a great birthday, which began with breakfast in bed served by my favorite guy…

How cute is that?

Later in the day we went to an early dinner at one of our favorite restaurants called Osteria la Buca. R introduced me to this restaurant on my birthday last year so we thought it was a good choice. We brought Jack with us, which was fun…

Did you notice that Jack and his Dad are making the same face? I love that picture!

We enjoyed some yummy cocktails, spicy pizza, crispy brussel sprouts and, of course, delicious dessert…

For my birthday, my two guys gave me this pink present…

And inside was a charm necklace by Helen Ficalora that I have been wishing for…

The next day, we celebrated some more…

where we’ve been

Clearly I am behind on my updates about Jack and our weekly happenings…

We’ve been house hunting for a little over a month, which, in LA, is a very time consuming, exhausting and often frustrating and disheartening endeavor, especially with a price range like ours.

I plan to blog about our house hunt until we find ‘Jack’s House’ as we’re calling it.

Tonight, after our boy goes to bed, I plan to write several updates about the past few weeks in our world.

the best of both worlds.

After a lot of soul-searching and family discussion, I’ve decided to return to work part-time. Since my request to return to my position 80% time was not granted by my job, I chose to take the “step down” and work in the office 3 days per week. I will also teach a few classes per week as supplement.

I look forward to seeing how my new role might actually allow me to spend more time doing the things I love about my job. And of course, I am thrilled to be able to be present for Jack more often than returning to work 5 days would have offered.

I am also happy that the extra personal days per week may actually allow me the space and time to pursue some things that I’ve had on the back burner for too long.

Hey, when life gives you lemons, make some lemonade, right?

I hope that this schedule will allow me to experience the best of both worlds: Mommyhood and Working Woman.
