our house: the nursery

Some readers of this blog have asked for photos of our house. I finally feel like a couple of the rooms are put together enough to share. Jack’s room is the most finished, so here is my big nursery reveal! Some moms do it before the baby arrives, other moms do it ten months after. Heh.

Here is one side of his room, showing the crib, storage trunk and hanging shelf…

Here is the other side of the room, showing the changing table, rocking chair, storage items & wall art…

And finally, the window, the curtain for which isn’t completely finished yet…

The curtains are sewn from the fabrics I’ve used from Jack’s weekly photos.

The only thing left to do in this room is hem and line the curtains and paint the walls a nice shade of blue.

I didn’t set out to design a red, yellow and blue room, but the things just started to come together that way and I am happy with how it turned out!

you’re invited

Alright, some people have been asking about my house. You know, the water damage and mold issue that arose almost *three* months ago now? Yeah, that. Remember?

Well, it continues. And here are some pictures as my way of throwing a full fledged pity party for myself on this, the eve of Thanksgiving.

Here is my bathroom ceiling…

bathroom ceiling is still a hole

~~~
The only consolation here is that I was able to install a nice new can light to replace the ugly 60s fixture and a ceiling fan to aid in avoiding any of this happening again. Silver lining there. I do my best to find them.
Here is the current state of my hallway…
hallway is disarray
~~~

I’m thinking it’s styled in a very modern, messy, industrial, sort of “coming-undone” style, to match the crumbling state of the economy. Hip, I know. I’m an artist, ok?

And my bedroom is like this…

bedroom floor dismantled bedroom deconstructed

~~~
That’s the floor on the left and the East wall on the right. You can see that it is styled in much the same fashion as the hallway…
Finally, I am still sleeping in my dining room, which hardly helps me want to make my bed…
I am over it and I’d like your pity now please. Tomorrow I will go back to being grateful…
easy face lift
my kitchen cabinetry came with very unfortunate knobs on the drawers and doors…but I finally gave them a little face lift.
before…
knobs: before
*trust me, don’t let the little flowers fool you. granny? are you there?
after…
knobs: after
*and don’t let my poor photography fool you. very simple and fresh.
knobs: much better
it’s amazing what 34 knobs can do in so little time!
too bad it’s not as inexpensive just to replace the cabinetry altogether.
