dear jack (10 days old)

Dear Jack,

It is the morning of February 5, 2012 and you are 10 days old. We are sitting in the lobby of St. Joe’s hospital after you had your heel poked for your bilirubin test and we find ourselves needing to breast feed in public for the first time.

I pull out the cover to give us some privacy and you are exercising your lungs, the cries from which fill the echoey space. Once you latch there is instant quiet and I watch as you suckle urgently. From under the blanket I have a perfect view of you and your tiny body parts. I love them all and I find I must tell you so! I whisper to you softly…

I love your hair,
I love your ears,
I love your eyes,
I love your cheeks,
I love your chin,
I love your shoulders,
I love your knuckles,
I love your lips,
I love your nose,
I love your eyelashes,
I love your fingers,
I love your belly,
I love your toes…

And now Daddy is here and it’s time to go home.

Love,
Mom

skillful…heck yeah!

My hub-guy recently dusted off his theatre director’s hat and took on a very difficult project, a beautifully poetic play called God’s Ear. He’s been working tirelessly since before the holidays to bring the play to life and it opened this past Friday here in Hollywood.

Of course, I loved it (it also starts one of my best friends, the very talented Amanda Saunders) and I was moved to laughter and tears throughout the performance. Check out the marquee of the theatre with his name displayed prominently…

And then today, this review of the show.

Yep, that’s my husband. He’s skillful. I agree and I had to brag, because he never would.

snow weekend!

R and I took a weekend getaway to Big Bear Lake where we enjoyed the snow and some quiet time together. It was absolutely splendid!

We stayed in a little bed & breakfast cabin which was adorned in big, beautiful icicles…

big ice

On Saturday, R had a fun afternoon of skiing…

ski!

And I got to wander around town in my favorite pink cat hat before meeting R at the lodge for a late lunch.

Thank goodness we live close enough to the mountains to enjoy some real Winter weather in December! We think we feel a family habit forming…

Perhaps this was our “babymoon”?

i’m a very proud wife.

You might remember that my hub was a Semi-finalist in the 2011 Slamdance Film Festival Screenwriting & Teleplay Competition…

Well, today we found out he is now one of just 3 FINALISTS!

To see his name listed, click right here and scroll down to “Teleplay”. I’m so proud and excited for him. We’ll find out who wins next week at a ceremony at the Writers Guild.

Congratulations, R! So cool.
