New Car 2006 – Mini Cooper

Mini
I also drove a Mini Cooper today…

I’m glad I got to drive one, but like the VW Beetle, it felt too small and it was surprisingly bouncy. I like a smoother ride. (Wow ~ I really am getting old)

It’s very cute, though and I loved the sunroof shades ~ how brilliant!

No Mini Cooper for me…
(unless I lived in England ~ wink)

New Car 2006 ~ Toyota

Prius blue RAV4

I woke up to a beautiful, sunny day here in Santa Monica and decided to do another test drive…I went to the Toyota dealer and tried out the Prius and the Rav4.

People keep telling me I should buy a Prius. You know, because of the price of gasoline (which in LA, by the way, is about $3.34 per gallon right now). So, I drove one and well, I didn’t really like it. I thought is was small and I hated the interior and I don’t like how the speedometer looks like a digital clock that counts up and down. It was a little too clipped for my taste. Although, it’s amazing because when you’re at a stoplight, it doesn’t make a sound. It sounds like it’s turned off. That’s kind of cool.

Then, I drove a RAV4. I found it to be very comfortable and I liked the ride. It wasn’t as bouncy as the Ford Escape. It felt a little plusher, which I liked. And the back seats go down easily with the push of a button! They’ve done a really nice job in the redesign. And it comes with a way to play an iPod, which rocks.

So, in this face off ~ Rav4!

New Car 2006 ~ Ford

Escape Focus

Today I drove the Escape and the Focus at the Ford dealer…

Having owned a Ford for 9 years now, I know that they are reliable and safe. And having driven the Focus before and knowing that it replaced the Escort model, I wasn’t expecting to fall in love. And it was exactly what I expected. It felt like a newer version of my car and it felt very…sparse. And the interior just felt like I was in a rental car. A little boring.

From the outside, the Escape looks very nice. I liked it when I saw it on the freeway. It is very roomy, but keeps the small SUV feel. Again, though, I was disappointed with the interior…I’m over fabric seats from Ford. (How snotty am I?) And it was very bouncy.

In this face off ~ Escape! (If only just for a change).
