26 weeks / 6 months!

Jack turned 6 months old this week! Admittedly, I went crazy with this week’s photo shoot since I’ve missed a couple in a row…

Jack has entered such a fun phase. He remains so expressive and curious and involved. Jack loves the new tastes he is trying, especially the apples he added to his palate this week. He continues to enjoy bananas and found sweet potatoes delicious, but has decided he no longer likes rice cereal. When Jack eats his purees he makes the “mmmmm” sound after each bite. It’s adorable and hilarious. He also likes to try to help feed himself by grabbing the spoon as it meets his tongue. I suspect Jack is going to be a very independent boy.

This week, Jack got his first audition. He was awesomely patient during the long wait for his turn and then grinned like a champion during his photo test. He didn’t book the job, but it was good practice for both of us. Here he is checking out the other kids…

Of which there were too many to count. Check out the kid/parent chaos…

Jack is getting stronger. He now pushes up all the way when he rolls to his tummy and he’s getting good at sitting with very little support. He can manage several seconds before tipping over, usually toward the left. He enjoys the new perspective so much!

Since we’ve been staying with my parents, we frequently add swimming to our day, which is great fun. He still doesn’t seem totally thrilled about it, but he doesn’t protest, so we continue to get him comfortable in the water. Here we are together enjoying our first mommy & baby swim…

Here are some nicknames we call Jack at 6 months…
From Daddy: Monkey, Monkey-man, Handsome
From Mommy: Jack-boy, Boo-goo, Rumpkin, Sweet Peanut, Lil’ J

Jack loves the outdoors and is very content to lay on his blanket looking up at the trees and enjoying the warm summer breeze.

My favorite thing about Jack is how easily he’ll flash his big grin…

Happy half-birthday, darling boy…

25 weeks old!

As you can see, Lil’ J started solids this week. He began with rice cereal and then tried bananas. He liked rice cereal ok, but boy did Jack love bananas!

This week we moved out of our condo and into my parents house. This means I now have an hour long commute to work. Since we are a 1 car household, my boss offered for me to borrow her car temporarily, which was so generous of her…

Luckily, despite a frustrating and tricky escrow process, we believe it’ll pull through and we’ll only need to be here for about 3 weeks.

His first week at Grandma & Grandpa B’s house was fun, fun, fun! He tried his jumper for the first time, but he’s not sure about it yet…

And, he took his first dip into the pool with Grandpa…

He is also unsure about the pool, but we think he’ll end up loving it!

24 weeks old!

Look at him wearing both of his teething rings on his arms. He is getting so much better at grabbing and getting items he wants to play with.

Despite my best efforts, we did not get a fancy photo taken this week because we started to pack our things for our move…

we're moving.

This week Jack really started showing a lot of interest in everything, like this exersaucer at his Grandparents K’s house…

He especially likes to grab for our food!

Chips anyone?
(I promise we didn’t feed him any)

Wow – I am a month behind on Jack updates, so you’ll be getting four in one weekend!

23 weeks old!

Jack’s fabric background made sense the week I took the photos because it was the week of Fourth of July!

Jack also visited the beach for the first time – in Malibu…

This last photo makes me grin because while it’s not a great photo, it shows how happy and funny Jack is most of the time…

blissfully happy

Doesn’t he look totally blissed out? We love his personality.

22 weeks!

Jack turned 5 months old this week! He is a little chunk-a-monk, isn’t he?

Jack is exploring everything – he wants to touch, grab and hold everything in his path and once he gets what he wants into his grasp, he immediately puts it in his mouth…

Untitled Untitled Untitled

The big news this week is that Jack now rolls over in both directions! He likes to roll from belly to back, but when he rolls from back to belly when he doesn’t want to, he sometimes gets stuck there and fusses out of frustration. While we don’t want him to be frustrated, it is kind of cute.

Here are some more photos from Jack’s 22nd week…

First, Jack still loves to grab for the iPhone. He was on my lap and I was trying to take his photo when all of a sudden his little fingers reached around and he snapped his own picture. No joke. We’ll call this Self Portrait #1

Jack is now wearing 6 month size. It is fun to be dressing him in new outfits – I like his 6 month clothes a lot. Here he is rockin’ a hot day in a sleeveless pirate shirt that I found on sale and some plaid, hand-me-down shorts…

Jack is lucky to have received many awesome hand-me-down clothes from his second-cousins in NYC. Thank you, Matthew & Drew!

Jack always loves to hang out with his grandparents. All of them!

Here he is with Grandpa Jack…

And then he tried on Grandpa Jack’s funny hat…

Dear Jack,

Some things I love about you at 5 months are:
–When you eat, nursing or from a bottle, you like to hold onto my finger.
–Your sly, little half-smile.
–The way you bury your face into my neck when you’re starting to get tired.
–You have noticed the cat and now watch him with wonderful curiosity.
–Your desire to be involved in everything we do.
–Sometimes when you nurse you take a pause to gaze up at me as if checking to see that I’m still there.
–How intently you listen and enjoy the pictures when we read you a bedtime story.
–This look…

–And this look…

Jack Lawrence, you are our treasure.
