It’s too much to put into words, but what I can say is that this 2 month exploration of yoga on and off the mat has been extremely rewarding. It was a truly wonderful experience and even though I’ve come to the end of training, I know that I’ve come to the beginning of real learning and growth!

yogathon in pictures

9am approaches on Saturday: yogathon begins It’s been 2 weeks since the yogathon. I will be posting my experience in more words later this weekend, but what I’ll say now is it was a very unique and amazing experience. As a group we raised $37,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Thanks again to all who donated. You are all angels!

For now, if you click here, you can see a lot of it in pictures…

~if you click on each picture individually, there’s more description detail to enjoy.

i’m gonna kick some asana

And if you don’t speak yogi, “asana” means “yoga pose”. Yoga humor, it is what it is…

The time has arrived. The yogathon is here and the schedule of events during my 24 hour yoga immersion starts at 9am on Saturday and runs until 9am on Sunday.

I am very proud of my donation contribution in the amount of $1400! Thank you to all who donated from the bottom of my heart. Not only did you donate your dollars to the amazing work of Habitat for Humanity, but you donated your dollars to support me. That means a lot. A *lot*. Thank you.

Thankfully, there are many things planned during the 24 hours other than Asana practice (which is the physical side of practicing yoga), but I will indeed do *six* physical classes.

Here’s what I get to do, hour by hour…

9 – 11am: Asana with Anthony & Rebecca (a fave teacher of mine & his wife)
11am – 12:30pm: Asana with Noah Maze (a teacher I’ve always wanted to try)
12:30 – 2pm: Lunch, donated by Tender Greens
2 – 3pm: A talk with a Habitat house recipient
3 – 5pm: Thai Yoga Massage (??, but sounds cool)
5 – 6:30pm: Asana with Tony Giuliano (also a yogathon participant)
6:30 – 8:30pm: Dinner, donated by Great India Cafe & Govindas Massage
8:30 – 10:30pm: Restorative Yoga with Sharon Skok (restful asanas only)
10:30pm – 12am: Drum Circle (*guests invited to attend!*)
12 – 2am: Musical guest, Kirtan
2:30 – 3am: Yoga Comedy (yogis can make fun of themselves!)
3 – 5am: Meditation & Asana with Kristopher Nelson
5 – 5:30am: Sunrise Comedy (at this point I believe the sun will be funny)
5:30 – 7:30: Asana with Anthony (again!)
7:30 – 8am: Breakfast, donated by Beverly Hills Juice & The Bagel Broker
8 – 9am: Closing with Habitat rep & presentation of Ceremonial Check!

What I expect is that I will start out looking something like this (Side Crane Pose):

And end up looking something like this:

I’ll see you on the other side, where I will post photos, stories and learnings from my experience!
Namaste.

yogathon for charity

You know how a lot of people these days raise money for charity by getting sponsored to train for and run marathons? Well, they do ~ and it’s popular here in LA. Well, I don’t run marathons, I do yoga…

So, my way of contributing to my community is by participating in a Yogathon!

On June 27th, I will be doing yoga for 24 hours. Yes, seriously. And before you poo poo this idea as easy, you should know that yoga is much more than just stretching and breathing. Yoga actually means “union” and is about finding the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. So, this 24 hour practice will be challenging to say the least, but I expect and hope to learn a great deal about myself & yoga. {And did you know that my next venture is to go through yoga teacher training?}

namasteNow, I know we’re all tightening our budgets, but of course, I need sponsorship. As a group, the other yogis and I hope to raise $100,000 for Habitat for Humaity~Los Angeles. My personal goal is to raise $2000 and be the yogi who raises the most for our cause! If we, as a group, reach our total goal, we will contribute a complete house that will be called “The House that City Yoga Built” ~ how cool is that?

For more info or to sponsor me through tax-deductable donation, click here:

I promise, if you donate, to share photos & stories of my experience! And if you don’t donate, I promise we’re still friends!
Thank you in advance for your support.
Namaste.

“om”bama

This is lululemon’s January ad, which I think is funny…

I also *love* it because, just like Obama, yoga is all about taking action for change…

Anything is possible, but you can’t sit back and expect someone else to do it – you’ve got to act. Action brings progress and change. We’re all in it together, with a phenomenal leader. Let’s go for it!
