seat in the sand

I looked out my window.
I walked straight to the beach.
I took off my shoes and rolled up my jeans.
And I sat my ass down in the soft sand to stare out across Lake Michigan.
And right there, I found my calm. She was right next to me.
I then walked clear across the city to take in the moon over the river.

I happened to capture this in the following photos…
i looked out my window I walked straight to the beach
I took off my shoes and rolled up my jeans
And I say my ass down in the soft sand I stared out across Lake Michigan
And there sat my calm, right next to me As you can see, I spent the afternoon wandering around Chicago, which did wonders in the way of clearing my head of stress and anxiety and fear. It was a lovely afternoon spent all by myself…

exploding with smiles

Sunday was my Grandma Finch’s 90th birthday party and practically the whole family was there which is no small feat. There are about a million cousins to round up, not to mention my brothers and me!

Here’s my favorite photo; everyone exploding with smiles, even Doug!

The only one missing was my guy, RJ…

how does your garden grow?

This weekend I tended my garden. I have a rather small, but sweet patio space. Since moving in I have to admit I have paid it almost no attention. I am actually suprised that so many of the plants are still alive. Before I sent some love and sweat out onto the patio, there was dirt and ‘gunk’ everywhere. A few of the plants were dried up. It was not inviting or colorful. But, a little bit of work can go a long, long way.

And now…Voila!

Patio re-arrangement

First, I swept up a ton of dirt, leaves and general yuckiness. Then I moved the plants from around the side and brought them to where you can see them from my couch. I moved my little table and chairs to the side in order to create a little nook. Finally, I potted some flowers to add color and got a fresh and vibrant doormat.

I heart my new patio!
