As I already mentioned, we went to Puerto Vallarta with my family and had a great time!

We spent most of our time playing on the beach and in the pool with Jack…

One day we rode the bus into downtown Puerto Vallarta. Here is the whole group, including my parents, one of my brothers and his fiance and my aunt…

We saw lots of chalk artists and some sand men…

Finally, on the last night, as per tradition, we went to Fajita Republic. Yum! After some margaritas, commence the annual silly face contest…

The silliness wore Jack out and he passed out in his highchair. Isn’t R a good multi-tasker?

Most nights we ended up playing cards into the wee hours of the morning…

Sadly, RJ and I did not get out together by ourselves, but we did manage to get a couple of photos of just us…

snow weekend!

R and I took a weekend getaway to Big Bear Lake where we enjoyed the snow and some quiet time together. It was absolutely splendid!

We stayed in a little bed & breakfast cabin which was adorned in big, beautiful icicles…

On Saturday, R had a fun afternoon of skiing…

And I got to wander around town in my favorite pink cat hat before meeting R at the lodge for a late lunch.

Thank goodness we live close enough to the mountains to enjoy some real Winter weather in December! We think we feel a family habit forming…

Perhaps this was our “babymoon”?

I’m 21+5 weeks pregnant with my boy, Jack, and I’m working in NYC this week/weekend…

It’s challenging to take a pregnant photo of one’s self, but I managed. I think I’m looking a bit more pregnant, don’t you?

p.s. R attended the award ceremony for the Slamdance competition last night and won 2nd place in his category. Hooray! Very, very cool…

catch up #5: late july/early august

We took a vacation to Costa Rica in late July/early August. We had a splendid time! When we booked the trip we had plans to try all kinds of wild adventures like zip-lining, canyoning, repelling waterfalls and the like. But of course when we learned about our pregnancy, we amended our plan and enjoyed less wild adventures such as hiking, beach bumming and sailing. It was still a fabulous trip…

We began our trip in the Arenal Volcano area, where, as you’ll see, there is a large, active volcano – which was right outside the floor-to-ceiling patio window of our first hotel. Amazing to see it’s grandness…

In this area we hiked to a waterfall, explored hanging bridges through a canopy and drove very bumpy roads.

Our second location was in Manuel Antonio, where there is an amazing state park in which to see many animals. It is also very close by some amazing beaches.

We saw sloths, reptiles, butterflies, birds and 3 kinds of monkeys. We loved it!

The nice thing about our trip (and about Costa Rica) is that it gets dark quite early and so we slept a lot and enjoyed beautiful, clear, early mornings.

I love getting away with R and I hope to do so one more time before Baby K arrives.

catch up #4: july (two)

Toward the end of July we went to Washington for the wedding of Lindsey & Joe! It was in the picturesque Skagit Valley, which neither of us had visited before – we fell in love with it. Just delightful. We also got to see friends, which is always the best.

The wedding was one of our favorite’s ever – such fun!

The reception had this amazing view of the mountain in the background, which made for lovely photos. I also think I have a cute husband, but I realize I’m biased…
