empty and full

For the past month…or so (ok, maybe 3 months? ~ shut up!), my refridgerator has been practically empty. Finally, I got my ass to the grocery store and filled it up! Here’s the before and after…

Upon looking over my budget, I was appalled to see how much money I’ve been spending on dining out for lunch and dinner, so I’m making a new effort to make my lunch everyday and cook dinner at home. It’s truly ridiculous that it’s gone on so long now, ’cause really, I’m quite capable in the kitchen.

So far (today) I’ve been good. I set my alarm 15 minutes earlier and resisted hitting snooze 3 times, which actually got me out of bed 30 minutes ahead of time. I prepped my lunch and did the dishes, made some breakfast ~ which will help me save $3.10 from the Starbuck’s vacuum, and I’m still ahead of schedule.

I think I like this new routine. Maybe I can actually style my hair, too.

  1. I just bought a book about making your lunch called ‘The Brown Bag’ for the exact same reason! My fridge looks like the before picture – except there are also vegetables in various decomposing states. yuck. I resolve to do better.

  2. If you buy the Ziploc storage containers (cheap at the grocery store) and put your dinner leftovers in them after you eat dinner at night, you only have to grab it out of the fridge in the morning while tearing out of your apt. You’re essentially packing your lunch the night before, and not wasting food, which is always my big issue after making a dinner for two (or one).

  3. KO~this is true, but see, you’re assuming I actually cook myself dinner…haha. No, but you’re right. I’m just a lazy gal these days. But I’m doing better. I’ve been cutting back on meals out a lot!
