Boo! hoo…I’m pouting because it’s Halloween and I don’t have any fun plans. No costume to be worn. No place to celebrate with friends. Just teaching in Chicago…

Seriously. I feel like I’ve hit a wall when it comes to fashion, beauty and style. I used to have fun with clothes and make-up and getting dressed to go places. I feel like I’ve lost my sense of style. I just put on workout clothes, throw my hair up and go. I need a makeover, but I can’t spend a lot of money. Any ideas or thoughts out there from my female friends? (Sorry guys, this isn’t really your issue or expertise, I don’t think. But perhaps I’m wrong?)
Or maybe it’s just that I gave up soda, so I’m going through withdrawl? (10 days!)
One great way to feel pretty is go to a Mac store and have them give you a makeover. Have them show you exactly what they did, step by step (this is very important as I always forget what they did). They are going to try to make you buy everything (including the useless non-color “base” eyeshadow. Just buy what you think is necessary. And remember, Mac makeup lasts forever. Then find out where the nearest beauty school is (with a decent reputation). They give great hair cuts and colors for super cheapt…and usually very good.
If you want to spend a little money on clothes, one option is to go to Nordstrom and have them set you up with an appointment with one of their shoppers. The shopper will get you size, your taste, and your details and then set up a dressing room with a ton of outfits. The appointment is completely free. The clothes are not 🙂
Hope any of this helps!! Oh, and congrats on quitting drinking soda. Pretty soon you’ll be able to just drink it socially 🙂

Thank you so much for your feedback and ideas! I read your mind, because I did end up going to Sephora and I had them do my make-up. Because I have bought some of my make-up there in the past, I had her incorporate what I already own into what she did. All I bought was some bronzer (I had no idea how to use that before)and a brush for it and a new lip gloss. It helped my little PMS slump of feeling icky. Yay!
Good idea about the beauty school. I might try that…
And yes, I look forward to the day when I can drink soda socially. I don’t think I could go through life without it forever…
