2005 could not be more welcome in my world!
This past year (which from now on will be unaffectionately called Tumultuous 2004) brought my life many strength and character building events.
Over the past year I…
Closed “Noises Off” in San Francisco and permanently moved to Los Angeles.
Collected unemployment. (despite my pride’s dismay)
Worked at Starbuck’s. (but only lasted a month)
Planned a Tea Party where only 3 of 10 people showed up.
“Committed” the “offense” and endured all the chaos that followed. (and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then I haven’t wanted to tell you—yet)
Waded through hours of tears and frustration due to the lack of forward movement in my career.
Was informed that I was overpaid my unemployment compensation & was held responsible for paying it back.
Accrued debt on the credit card I had paid off at this time last year.
Planned a Holiday Dinner party, which noone could attend.
Missed San Francisco, a lot!!
Missed my friends & family, even more!
Confirmed a haunting suspicion.
Nursed my kitty back to health after a fight, twice.
Finished the year with only 2 of the neccessary 20 weeks of actor employment needed to retain my health insurance.
BUT!
As I reflect on these things I choose to believe that this year has been a test of my courage, my integrity, my patience and most of all, my resilience. So perhaps I will, in the future, look back on 2004 and be grateful for the lessons I’ve learned and the strength I’ve built. But today I’m ready to kiss 2004 GOODBYE…
In 2005:
*Here’s to starting over with a positive outlook and a growing sense of self!
*Here’s to being myself more often and learning not to apologize for it!
*Here’s to more auditions!
*Here’s to “James Dean-ing” it! (aka: really going for it)
*Here’s to getting “called back”!
*Here’s to booking jobs!
*Here’s to staying active doing the many things I love!
*Here’s to theatre gigs!
**Here’s to 2005!
May 2005 bring you joyous moments, lots of laughter and many wishes and dreams come true ; I know that’s what I’m hoping for…
Here’s to 2005~~~May it be a rainbow!
“Never lose hope in your dreams. For without dreams, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
–Langston Hughes
