meaningful gifts

I really like to give gifts, but I don’t like to give useless gifts of “stuff”.

I’m the person who looks at a wedding registry and won’t buy something that doesn’t “look like the person I’m buying it for”. Now, of course, the person I’m buying it for picked everything out, but there is always something that just feels right to me and that’s what I buy…

For Christmas I also love to give things that can be used. For example, last year I bought R an espresso machine because I knew he would use it and it would help save him dollars and cents. And he loved it. And he uses it every day. And still talks about what a good gift it was. So, see, that wasn’t a romantic gift, per se, but it was perfect.

And now I come to this year’s list…

Mom
Dad
R
2 brothers
R’s parents (especially because they feed me every Sunday!)

I think I really might have the hardest list ever! And there are only 4 days before I go away to the North, so I must have gifts for R and his parents by Friday.

I’m dying here. What do I get people who don’t need any “stuff”? H.E.L.P M.E

  1. Oh, that’s a tough one. I also believe in only giving gifts when they are “just right”but sometimes that leaves me in a tight spot! Tickets (to an event/concert or a mini-trip)have been successful in those situations. And for M’s parents, food stuff and garden stuff is usually the route I go when I am out of ideas. Good luck!!

  2. I’m completely incompetent when it comes to gift giving, but I agree with Aimee. Think of ways to give “experiences” rather than things – tickets, trips, day spa, etc.

  3. Yes, that’s what I want to do is give the gift of experiences. It’s just choosing what experience might be really, really cool or satisfying.

  4. (My last post had HTML and might not be showing up)…

A good place to look for ideas: Search for “Signature Days” on Google…
